What we want to achieve!
SHARE.MedWATER delivers scalable solutions to reuse rainwater, greywater, and treated wastewater in rural and island regions across seven Mediterranean countries.
It sets up community-level pilots where rainwater is harvested to irrigate crops, greywater from homes is reused for toilet flushing, and treated wastewater supports green spaces. At district level, two large-scale demos coordinate water reuse across agriculture, tourism, and urban services.
Inspired by energy-sharing models, SHARE.MedWATER builds a framework for managing and distributing non-conventional water sources collectively. A decision-support tool helps authorities weigh costs, environmental impact, and user needs. Through transnational cooperation, it aims to reduce dependence on freshwater, strengthen climate resilience, and support EU and regional water strategies.
