The partnership consists of 10 private and public organisations from 7 EU countries, including 3 public authorities, 2 Higher education and research organizations, 1 public National research centre, 2 NGO’s , and 2 Clusters. Eleven associated partners contribute as end-users, technical supporters and advisory body.

Larnaca and Famagusta Districts Development Agency – ANETEL (Lead Partner – Cyprus)  was founded in 2003 and its shareholders are the local authorities of Larnaca and Famagusta Districts. It has an institutional and operational role with a huge experience as a Lead partner and partner and has implemented more lot of projects (Interred Med, Interreg Europe, Horizon, COSME, Greece-Cyprus, national projects) that had a great impact on the territory and imporve the national and local policies/strategies. has collaboration and synergies with other organizations such as SME, public administration, universities, NGOs and supports the transfer of knowledge and best practices, affects the operational programmes and is the intermediate funding body of the Regional Strategy (rural and fisheries areas) for the period 2021-2027.

Italian National Agency for New Technologies Energy and Sustainable Economic Development – ENEA (Italy) is one of the largest scientific and technological state-owned Italian institutions. Its mission is to foster sustainable development in Italy by supporting the decoupling of prosperity and welfare growth from environmental impacts. ENEA activities target applied research, technology innovation and transfer and advanced services to public administrations, enterprises and citizens, with applications to many sectors, e.g., water cycle, waste prevention and management, innovative materials, energy, EEE, furniture and agri-food.

University Consortium for Industrial and Managerial Economics – CUEIM (Italy) is a non-profit research organization, based on an association model, established in 1982. It brings together universities and qualified public and private entities with the aim of spreading academic knowledge and expertise to support the socio-economic development processes of the territory, fostering the creation of a sustainable future. Over forty years of activity, CUEIM has concretized its mission through research interventions, training, dissemination, and consultancy services, supporting both public and private organizations, and contributing to the enhancement and socio-economic development of the territories in which it operates. CUEIM is an open international network where Italian and foreign universities, local public bodies, private organizations, and innovation centers – both members and non-members – collaborate to act on territories for the production and dissemination of well-being.

Energy and Sustainable development Cluster – Greentech (Italy) is a not-for-profit association joining more than 120 members (e.g. enterprises, research centers, training institutions), working in the energy and sustainable development area which want to collaborate together in R&D projects. It promotes the collaboration between its members and other relevant stakeholders, including the regional policy makers.

Centre for Research and Technology Hellas – CERTH (Greece) was fοunded in March 2000 and it is a legal entity governed by private law with non-profit status, supervised by the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation (GSRI) of the Greek Ministry of Development. CERTH suggests one of the most important Research Centers in Greece with a main mission: The promotion of innovative research for the benefit of society. Dedicated to this purpose, CERTH lies at the forefront of basic, applied and technological research to provide solutions to society’s modern challenges.

International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources – IUCN (Spain) is a well-established and recognised organization in nature conservation and sustainable development in the Mediterranean. Their activities are based on collaboration with members, international organizations and agreements, governments, NGOs, partners, members of the seven IUCN Commissions active in the region, and all those interested in preserving the Mediterranean nature and its resources, as defined in their Mediterranean Programme and the North Africa Programme. IUCN-Med has a consolidated background in participating in European projects, having experience with the LIFE Programme, ENI CBC Med, HE, H2020 and Interreg MED Programme from past and current programming periods (MEET, DestiMED, DestiMED PLUS, POSBEMED, POSBEMED 2, FISHMPABLUE, MPA-ADAPT, NaTour4CChange, GreenList4MMPAs,Dialogue4Nature ).

Urban Research Institute – URI (Albania) is an independent non-profit organization established in 1999, with over two decades of experience supporting sustainable development at local, national, and international levels. URI provides technical expertise in policy development, applied research, capacity building, project management, investment planning, and performance-based monitoring. URI works closely with central government institutions and local authorities, collaborating with key ministries and the majority of Albania’s municipalities, including ongoing partnerships with 16 local government units. URI has built strong, long-term partnerships with international donors, financial and investment institutions, and development agencies, including the World Bank, UNDP, EBRD, European Commission, GIZ, SIDA, USAID, Helvetas, and others. Since 2020, URI has also served as a Delivery Partner of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in Albania. URI brings extensive international experience, with projects implemented across the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean region.

Catalan Water Partnership – CWP (Spain) is a non-profit organization based in Catalonia, Spain, established in 2008 to promote the sustainable use of water. It currently brings together over 170 stakeholders across the water value chain, including consultancies, universities, equipment manufacturers, utilities, and public entities. CWP’s main goals are to boost innovative and sustainable water solutions, promote competitiveness, and support the research and implementation of new technologies to ensure water availability in terms of quality and quantity. CWP has been involved in more than 130 projects at regional and national level, as coordinator or partner, and in 19 EU-funded projects. CWP is part of several European and Spanish water platforms and networks, including the Spanish Technological Platform for Water (PTEA), Water Europe, and Water Smart Territories, seeking to establish global strategic alliances for advancing the water sector.

Energy and Water Agency – EWA (Malta) is a Policy Agency entrusted with the development of national policies for the energy and water sectors in the Maltese islands. In this role, EWA is also the National Competent Authority for the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD) and Floods Directive (FD) in Malta. As part of its role under these Directives, EWA is tasked with the formulation and with coordinating the implementation of Malta’s River Basin Management Plans and Flood Risk Management Plans.

Corsican Office for Water Infrastructure Planning and Management – OEHC (France) was established by the law of May 13, 1991, concerning the status of the Territorial Collectivity of Corsica, the OEHC is a Public Establishment of an Industrial and Commercial Nature (EPIC), attached to the Territorial Collectivity of Corsica, endowed with legal personality and financial autonomy. Chaired by an Executive Councillor of Corsica, the OEHC has a 36-member Board of Directors composed primarily of elected political and socio-professional representatives. Under the control and supervision of the Territorial Collectivity of Corsica, it manages Corsica’s water resources and implements the water investments defined by the Assembly of Corsica and approved by the Board of Directors. 

Associate Partners

International Centre For Sustainable Development Of Energy, Water And Environment Systems — SDEWES (Croatia) is a non-governmental and a non-profit scientific organization based in Croatia. It engages in specific R&D activities that address the problems common for the countries of the East and Southeast European and Mediterranean regions.

Municipality of Cervia (Italy): The Municipality of Cervia will play the role of end-user of outputs delivered by the project. It will contribute to the project by bringing the site for the Pilot Action n.3 as manager of the local Renewable Energy Community,  officially established in October 2024.

Vittoriosa Local Council (Malta) will be an End-User/Receiver of the outputs delivered in the project, with the aim of integrating the restored historic reservoirs in a communal water management system at the locality level using harvested rainwater for sustaining urban greening initiatives in the locality and undertaking street cleaning activities, as well as increasing the preparedness for addressing flash-flood risks in the locality.

ART-ER S. cons.p.a. (Italy) is the Emilia-Romagna consortium company for innovation and technology transfer, providing services to businesses, universities and the community at large. It promotes industrial research as the main driver for sustainable economic development, consistently with social wellbeing and growth; it cooperates with business associations to develop research-business joint strategies and actions.

Larnaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Cyprus) has the aim of realizing and enhancing the sustainability of Larnaka business. It constitutes a unifying voice for the established and emerging figureheads of Larnaka’s commercial and industrial sector. It is a hub that connects local businesses and a vital point of reference for island-wide and international stakeholders. The Chamber holds an important advocacy role as a representative of the private sector in liaisons with the Cyprus government ministries, semi-governmental organizations, municipalities and communities. It acts as an important indicator of Larnaka’s concerns in relation to pressing issues such as economic planning, public projects, taxation, regulation and tourism.

Gjirokastër Municipality (Albania) serves as a crucial associated partner in the Stera rehabilitation project, primarily interested in revitalizing traditional rainwater harvesting infrastructure with historical significance to the region. Their role includes providing local administrative support, necessary permits, and access to the Stera sites within their jurisdiction. The municipality acts intermediary with the local community, facilitating communication between project implementers and residents.

Corsica’s Regional Government (France) will follow closely with the project’s progress and will play an important part in communication activities about the project’s progress and results. Their participation is also crucial in the transferability of the project, as they will be developing a public policy on the island to apply the methods and results of this pilot to other similar territories if it is successful.

Corsican Mountains Comity (France) plays a crucial role in the development of Corsica’s numerous mountainous regions and their overall dynamism. They are an essential financing body for these regions which often struggle to build potable water or irrigation networks as well as other important infrastructure and equipment. Most importantly, they already play a major role in the development of a “smart valley” in the Niolu region where Lozzi (the implementation site of OEHC’s reuse test pilot) is located, by coordinating and organizing a convention between the different stakeholders of OEHC’s innovative Niolu hydropower-irrigation project.

Fondation Tour du Valat (France) is a research institute for the conservation of Mediterranean wetlands, conducts numerous activities with partners to the north and south of the Mediterranean basin. It has expertise in hydrology and is developing a phyto-epuration project using reedbeds to abate pollution from agriculture in Camargue.

Karastathis Eythimios, Cultivation of Vegetables (Greece) a grower and owner of 10.000m2 of greenhouses recognizes that using quality water has substantial benefits in many areas of production, including plant health and quality control. The company will act as observer and supporter of the initiative, having a direct benefit from the GR and all other pilot and project activities.

Global Water Partnership–Mediterranean (Greece). Aming for a water-secure Mediterranean, GWP-Med works at the regional, transboundary, national, basin and local level. GWP-Med promotes action and facilitates dialogue on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM); provides technical support to policy making; implements demonstration activities; and contributes to skills and knowledge development. Strategic priorities include leveraging the SDG target 6.5 on IWRM, adaptation to climate vulnerability and change, and river basin/transboundary water management. Gender and youth issues, as well as private sector participation in water financing, are also key, cross-cutting issues for GWP-Med. GWP-Med facilitates a multi-stakeholder platform that brings together almost 100 water institutions and organisations, including 10 major regional networks of different water disciplines. GWP-Med extends its human resources in 7 Mediterranean countries with the Secretariat being based in Athens.
