Representatives from the SHARE.MedWATER project actively participated in the Transformative Innovation Policy Lab (TIPLab) workshop held here on Friday, June 19.
The high-level event, titled “The Mediterranean Regional Response to the European Water Resilience Strategy,” was organized as part of the Dialogue4Innovation project and the Innovative Sustainable Economy mission. It took place alongside the Alliance for Water Resilience & Preparedness to Climate Change meeting.
Tackling Water Scarcity Together
Elisa Ulazzi and Tiziana Campisi represented SHARE.MedWATER at the lab, which brought together Mediterranean regions, project leaders, and key stakeholders. The primary focus of the day was to address the escalating challenge of water scarcity across the Mediterranean basin.
Participants engaged in interactive roundtable sessions utilizing specialized policy tools, including:
- The Problem Wheel: To map out the systemic root causes of water stress.
- Multi-Level Perspective (MLP) Analysis: To identify barriers and structural opportunities for systemic change.
These exercises allowed attendees to look beyond quick fixes and rethink the Mediterranean water system across critical dimensions, including governance, technology, finance, and agriculture.
Spotlight on Non-Conventional Water Resources
The SHARE.MedWATER delegation contributed directly to Table 1: Non-Conventional Water Resources and Water Resilience. This theme sits at the very heart of the project’s mission, which champions the community-based reuse of non-conventional water sources to build local climate resilience.
The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment to collaboration among all partners, including the CPMR Intermediterranean Commission. The insights gathered in Bologna will help shape upcoming regional policies and water management frameworks.
